Here's
How it Works:
Two
stainless steel jaws ride in slots machined in the flange end
of the tool’s housing. These jaws are held in position, just slightly
larger than the flexible shafts drive square, by multiple spring
assemblies which restrain the jaws from opening in values equal
to the quantity of springs used.
If the
cleaning tool jams in the tube deposit, the corners of the shaft
drive square will push against the jaws and eventually separate
them allowing the motor drive to spin separate from the shaft.
Once the cleaning tool is dislodged from the deposit the shaft
automatically starts spinning again. The more springs that you
use.. the more pressure that is required to separate the jaws
and vice versa.This
clutch can be used in either clockwise or counterclockwise rotation
and the springs can be either add or removed without disassembly
of the drive unit.
Here’s
How You Install TFI 555
Step 1 Remove set screws holding the drive unit cover to
the housing and loosen 3 set screws securing the main drive shaft
from the pulley and back bearing support.
Step 2 Slide shaft out front of manifold, punch retaining
pin out of current shaft drive coupling, and replace with TFI
555 shaft sentinel & re-pin to main drive shaft.
Step 3 Reassemble unit. Start with 4 springs for ‘A” casing
shaft applications. Adjust to suit.
Step 4 Replace existing flexible shaft drive coupling with
enclosed harden coupling.
